New Delhi: After getting an open letter from Peshwa Bajirao's descendant, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Bajirao Mastani' has landed into another controversy. History purists are now trying to get the flick banned, but if we give a closer look to these back-to-back dramas, they are just helping in the film's promotion.

To show a revolt against the Ranveer Singh-starrer, history purists have created a Facebook page that claims to highlight the twisted facts, which are being portrayed in the flick.
With about 1500 likes for the page, the campaign seems to be gaining momentum.
The FB page is described as, "This movie is purely insulting the glorious History of Shri Bajirao Peshwa. Let's not forget his valor. Let's work together to halt misrepresentation."
Letters written to the filmmaker as well as the one written to Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, have also been shared on the page.
Prior to this, Bajirao's kin, Mohini Karkarey, wrote an open letter to Bhansali claiming that he should have researched before filming the song 'Pinga' as Kashbai, whose character is being played by Priyanka Chopra, wouldn't have danced like this because firstly, she wasn't in the best of her health and secondly, it was not in their culture.
She also wrote in the open letter that Kashibai and Mastani met only once in their lifetime that too formally.
Though, the director himself did not respond to the controversy, Priyanka commented on it during the trailer launch of the flick.
The 33-year-old actress said that this film is based on a book called 'Rao' which narrates the author's version of Bajirao-Mastani's love story and it should not be taken otherwise.
Meanwhile, talking about the same, Deepika Padukone said that Bhansali is the right person to comment on it and she would let him clear the air.
And, like it is said no publicity is bad publicity, such controversies are only proving positive for the flick and are generating curiosity amongst the viewers.
Well, it is yet to be seen if these controversies will have an effect on the flick's box office collection.
The film is slated to release on December 18.
