Priyanka Chopra to make a quick visit to receive Padma award

Priyanka Chopra will be flying in to the country to receive the Padma award but can't stay to collect the Dadasaheb Phalke award

Priyanka Chopra has been shooting for her American TV show 'Quantico' since last few months in US. The actress is coming to India for a short trip to collect her Padma award.

A source says, "Priyanka just wrapped up the script reading session of her show's second season. She is required to shoot a few more final episodes of first season. However, getting the kind of honour and recognition that a Padma Shri award brings with it is huge. So she decided to take some time out from her schedule to receive it. She will fly into Delhi and fly back. She just has about 48 hours to spare so she might not be able to come to Mumbai at all. She has to be back in US to begin work on the second season as well as her film 'Baywatch'."
The actress cannot personally receive the other big award that's come her way this year; the Dadasaheb Phalke award. A source close to the actress says, "It is a big honour too, but it would be impossible for her to be able to stay back and collect both the awards. The Phalke award will be only given on April 24, Dadasaheb Phalke's birth anniversary. PC cannot extend her holiday till then."
Being the workaholic that she is, we hear that the two days she spends in Delhi are going to be rather hectic too, with some brand commitment that she has to complete apart from attending the award ceremony." Priyanka Chopra's spokesperson confirmed the news.

The "Mask" star, who recently released her second book, "The Longevity Book: Live Stronger, Live Better, The Art of Ageing Well", discussed about her lack of fear when it comes to ageing, reported Femalefirst.
Diaz said through her research, she has learned more about ageing physically, but she also looks forward to how much she gains in life experiences.
"What I have to offer the people around me, the wisdom I have gained through the experiences I have had, and looking forward to all of the years I have ahead of me (is my favourite part of ageing)," she tells her friend Gwyneth Paltrow's newsletter Goop.
The 43-year-old feels "stress, inflammation, lack of movement, poor nutrition, lack of sleep and not being connected to the people you love" contribute to premature ageing the most, but she was also shocked to learn about it on a cellular level.

Why Bollywood filmmakers no longer fear clashing with IPL

More often than not, filmmakers steer clear of releasing their films during the cricket season for, they believe, the audience gets divided thus affecting the film's collection. The mindset seems to be changing now as films continue doing well irrespective of the cricket fever. Unlike previous years, a couple of big projects that hit theatres during the T20 World Cup were a hit. Now, many films are slated to release during the IPL as well. So what has made the filmmakers so confident?

Cricket fatigue
Of the Hindi films that released during the T20 World Cup (it lasted a month), Kapoor & Sons (March 18) and Ki & Ka (April 1) proved to be blockbusters. Trade expert Komal Nahta believes that producers have realised the fatigue factor of cricket in today's times. "The Indian cricket team plays tournaments one after the other but that does not mean that people are going to follow just that. If they are interested in watching a movie, they will, even if there is an ongoing cricket series."
Nahta says that this is the first year that producers are showing confidence by releasing their films after the commencement of IPL. "Kapoor & Sons did well even during WC. During IPL too there is a lineup of big releases. This is first year that so many producers are releasing their films during the IPL. I believe it is a good decision because it (IPL) won't affect the collections of films."
High licensing rate
Exhibitor Akshaye Rathi explains how the cricket league does not attract as many viewers as it used to. "There were times when IPL's live matches were screened in movie theatres. Movie producers did not release their films during the tournament and exhibitors too felt screening matches would be beneficial.

But, now they have realised cricket tournaments' novelty factor has faded a bit and film buffs are showing interest in movies even during such leagues," he says adding, "The licensing rate to screen live matches is very high which makes it unfeasible for exhibitors to screen them. They prefer movies over cricket even from the business perspective."
Cricket matches over big films
Another aspect is that when two films featuring A-list actors release in the same week, both want to get more number of screens than the other which becomes a tough task for producers. Therefore, they are more confident to clash with cricket matches now.
Randeep Hooda in Sarbjit

"There are only 52 weeks in a year to release films. If we wait for the cricket season to get over to release films, then we might end up not releasing any. Since there is so much cricket already happening, it is better to clash with one of the matches than a big film," informs Nandu Ahuja, Senior Vice President, India theatrical, Eros International.
Ahuja also points out that the decision to clash with cricket has, so far, been a profitable one. "Ki & Ka did well despite releasing during the World Cup. While some shows of a film might get affected during big matches, but people who are interested in watching a film do go and catch up a show on some other day or time."
Confidence is key
With the World Cup having just concluded, a host of films including Shah Rukh Khan's Fan, Sarbjit, to name a few, will hit theatres during IPL. "I am confident about my film. Also, I wanted to release my film during a cricket league as it revolves around a cricketer. Having said that, I think that people who want to watch a film will go and watch it, no matter what. I am a cricket fan too and will watch selective matches, but that does not take away from my interest in films," says Tony D'Souza, director of the Azhar biopic.

Sidharth Malhotra: Change in my attitude post 'Kapoor & Sons'

With the success of 'Kapoor & Sons', Sidharth Malhotra says his attitude towards his work has undergone a change and he is more comfortable as an actor.

"To be fair to my other directors, I brought a certain amount of experience in this movie but this is a side that people have not seen before. There is a change in my attitude towards work. It's like I have tasted blood," he told PTI.
Sidharth credits director Shakun Batra for bringing the best out of him in the ensemble family drama, also starring Fawad Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ratna Pathak Shah, Rishi Kapoor and Rajat Kapoor. "In the first few films, everything was very new and there was a lot more questioning in my performances. But this role was closest to what I am in real life. Shakun did not want me to portray something, he said I want you to draw from you for this part. This is by far the maximum fun I had on a film set."
It is an interesting journey for Sidharth, who stumbled into the film industry after dabbling with modelling and assistance direction. "I became an actor due to various accidents. I am happy that they happened because I was very lost as a child and did not know what I was good at. I used to feel that I will not be able to do anything in life. But now I feel I am in the correct profession where I need to know a little bit of everything."
Sidharth, 31, says while they were making "Kapoor & Sons", they had no idea that it will find such acceptance. "We thought the film will have a narrow audience. We knew that it was a good film but the universal appeal that it has got is overwhelming and unexpected. I have never got such response for any of my films so I am holding onto this feeling and hope I get more chances to feel like this," says Sidharth.
The actor does not have much time to relish the success of his latest movie as he is back in action with two back-to-back movies -- an untitled action drama and "Baar Baar Dekho" with Katrina Kaif. He, however, denies that the action film is a sequel to "Bang Bang!".
"I am doing an action film, which is untitled. It is not 'Bang Bang 2' or related to that story. I have grown up on action movies and as an actor I like to beat up bad guys on the screen. The boy in me gets very excited."
The actor says 'Baar Baar Dekho' is 70 per cent complete and will hit the theatres in September this year. "It is a concept love story where there is some fiction in your life. It is about a man who gets a chance to see his life ahead and then what he does with it. We are mixing fiction and fact in a story. It is not time travel but this man gets a chance to see the future."

“North gets into the groove and realises that it's all going to be ok. There's enough attention and love for everybody,” she added.

Bell had an uncomfortable encounter with the reporter, whose name is Kevin Donnelly.
In a video obtained by entertainment website JustJared, Donnelly was seen bobbing the mic on Bell's face as he asked a silly question about who's the boss in the movie, reports aceshowbiz.com.
"I don't really care," he added. It's unclear what prompted Donnelly's bizarre question.
"Okay. That's enough," Bell said. As she turned her back ready to leave, Donnelly suddenly grabbed her arm while calling her "baby".
Having had enough, Bell slapped the reporter, sending him sprawled on the floor.
"Kristen, it's really OK," he said as he got up and climbed over the barricade. Shocked with his behaviour, Bell quickly made her way inside the building.

Giving viewers an emotional moment, a choked up Ryan prepared himself to say goodbye to viewers for the last time after 15 seasons on the show, but just as he spoke his famous phrase and the stage went dark, we heard two more words from the host that caused a stir with anyone who heard it.
"And one more time — this is so tough — we say to you from Hollywood, goodnight America," he said, before adding, "For now," to the bewilderment of everyone watching since this was supposedly the last and final season.
Seacrest later took to Twitter and tweeted his farewell to the show: ‘I didn’t want to say goodbye last night. Thank you for 15 amazing seasons #IdolFinale.’ he wrote. Show creator Simon Fuller recently told a magazine, however, that there’s definitely something on the horizon.
"There will no doubt be another format or refinement or elevation of the format. Now I can actually revamp it and come up with a new version. And we can look back on 15 seasons and think of some legitimate ways to allow people to enjoy them again, maybe adding another dimension to it," he said.

'We need a new normal-body type'

JLaw feels like the 'fattest one' due to Hollywood's demand for skinny bodies

'Hunger Games' star Jennifer Lawrence says the film industry has become so conditioned to skinny frames that healthily proportioned women are deemed overweight.

The 25-year-old Joy star said Hollywood's perception of what's 'normal' when it comes to body image is unhealthy and reveals she sometimes ends up feeling like the 'fattest one', reported a website.
"I would like us to make a new normal-body type. Everybody says, 'We love that there is somebody with a normal body! And I'm like, 'I don't feel like I have a normal body'," Lawrence said.
The actress added that her body is often described as curvy, but only because people are used to seeing 'underweight' models and actresses.
"I do Pilates every day. I eat, but I work out a lot more than a normal person. I think we've gotten so used to underweight that when you are a normal weight it's like, 'Oh, my God, she's curvy,' which is crazy."

Alia among actors treading Smita Patil's path: Mahesh Bhatt

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt today said he sees his daughter Alia Bhatt and many other actresses fitting into the shoes of Smita Patil, who could handle both commercial and parallel cinema with aplomb.

Smita Patil and Alia Bhatt

"There is a new dawn, a new energy. There is a new beginning I must say... I see a lot more actors, including a few regional parallel cinema actresses and also my daughter Ali Bhatt walking the way this great actor Smita did way back in time. "She could act both in commercial and parallel films and yet not get cliched," he told PTI in an interview here. Bhatt was here to attend the two-day Smita Patil festival organised by Pickle Jar, which offers socially relevant programmes.
The filmmaker said Alia has all the potential to walk the path of Smita as she has been doing both commercial and experimental films from a very young age. "Why shouldn't I mention my daughter Alia? She has done 'Highway' and also some lighter roles at a very young age. She can do both commercial and experimental films as she has grown up seeing Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi's movies by my production house," he said.
"However, I do not want to limit this to my daughter alone alone... there are other girls doing regional films. They are talented. I think once they make a foray into mainstream cinema, they may become smart to oscillate between doing parallel and commercial cinemas," he added. Bhatt said parallel filmmakers did not feel betrayed
when Smita did commercial films like 'Namak Halal' and 'Shakti', but benefited by the star value she brought to their respective tables.
"I think they benefited enormously after she switched over to mainstream cinema. Smita did exactly what Emraan Hashmi is doing, bringing star value to the table of parallel filmmakers by doing commercial films and offbeat film like 'Shanghai'," he said. Bhatt recalled that Smita was not unfair to parallel filmmakers as she was always available to them. "She was always available whenever they came to her with a story idea or a film," he added.
