Rating:
What do you desire in a movie? A pack of big or interesting or good looking stars? A bunch of cool looking action sequences? A solid plot? Fun jokes? Gorgeous costumes and glossy visuals? That's a big list of things but that's a pretty standard request for any self respecting movie buff in 2015. But if you do crave those things and have been disappointed by films recently, look no further – 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E' gives you all of those things, and more.
Watch the trailer of 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'
Directed by the great Guy Ritchie, 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E' is a rollercoaster ride of jokes and cool action choreography. I use the word cool, because that's precisely what everything in the film is. There's a certain panache to the way the characters talk, a certain style to the way they dress and a certain mojo in the way the film has an effect on you. Everything is just so cool looking.
The film is based on a TV series of the same name and pretty slavishly follows its action-comedy style. We're placed in the 60's in Germany post World War 2, and two spies, the CIA's Napoleon (Henry Cavill) and KGB's Illya (Armie Hammer) are out to get each other by orders from their respective government agencies. A girl in an auto shop (Alicia Vikander) shows up with connections to a Nazi nuclear scientist and both boys are given a joint mission to work together to find this scientist and steal the bomb, and of course, stop global destruction.
The film plays out deliciously to its cooky plot – there's enough humor in the film keep things chugging along, as Cavill becomes the brains of the mission and Hammer becomes the brawn. It's a nice role reversal considering Cavill is freaking Superman, and is clearly built like a rock. Camera trickery aids in Hammer looking much bigger than Cavill, but the camaraderie between the two is the real draw of the film. A sly comment here and a witty repose there and you'll find yourself laughing. Ritchie throws his trademark British humor and his knack for developing interesting looking chase sequences like a master at the top of his game. The film moves at a much slower pace than his other movies but that comes across as a welcome change.
The only underutilized part of the movie is Hugh Grant as a British Intelligence honcho who predictably ends up being the boss of both the spies. There's even a predictable twist towards the end and one wishes the film left that one out and focused more on the bromance between Cavill and Hammer. In any case it's a small complaint in a film that's big on entertainment. Watch it.

Malaika got a surprise phone call from Karan and was stunned with the warm welcome from the other judges and contestants on the show.
"Malaika's entrance was grand as always. She entered sitting inside a big heart to the song 'Munni badnaam hui'. The contestants and judges were really happy to see her. She also said that she is looking for the 'wow' factor in the performances," said a source from the set.
"What she didn’t expect was a big surprise on her very first day. Shahid called Malaika on the stage for 'Jhalak Connect' - where she was connected to a fan Shambhu. When the caller started praising her too much, then she realised there is something wrong and later it was clarified that the caller was Karan,” the source added.
The episode featuring Malaika will be aired on Saturday on Colors.

Shahid Kapoor upset over 'personal' joke on 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded'?

Shahid Kapoor is rumoured to have complained to 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' makers against host Manish Paul for "personal" comments
Television show host Manish Paul is known for his comic timing and sense of humour, but it seems Shahid Kapoor isn't amused. According to the latest buzz on the grapevine, the duo exchanged some icy vibes on the set of 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' when Manish made some "personal" comments about Shahid, who is judging the dance reality show. The actor apparently brought the matter to the notice of the production team.

A source says, "Manish has been hosting Jhalak for the past two seasons and at times, his jokes tend to get personal. So, some celebrities and contestants do not like it. But Shahid decided to speak out and inform the makers too."
Of late, the actor has been consciously guarding details about his personal life. In fact, at the trailer launch of his upcoming film 'Shaandaar', he snubbed all questions related to his married life and wife, Mira Rajput. Adds the source, "Shahid likes to keep his personal life personal. He does not enjoy it when the jokes and comments go overboard."
Manish denies the buzz and says, "(There is) nothing like that. We are having a lot of fun on the set. There is no problem at all."
While Shahid was unavailable for comment, the channel's spokesperson says: "There is absolutely no truth to it. Shahid is fond of Manish and their chemistry is very good which is visible on the show. We are surprised with these rumours being floated."

Ranveer Singh's loss is Amitabh Bachchan's gain

Singh was apparently the first choice to host the Indian adaptation of an international show
Television producers, it seems, have been trying hard to lure Ranveer Singh into the small screen business, but he has consciously steered clear of the tube. Quite recently, the actor was approached to host the Indian adaptation of British TV series 'Tonight's The Night', but he turned it down. The makers eventually roped in Amitabh Bachchan for the non-fiction show.

Says a source, "The show producers wanted a fresh face to host the desi version of 'Tonight's The Night'. So, they met a few young actors. They had seen Ranveer's hosting skills at an awards ceremony and felt he would be ideal to entertain the audience that is part of this reality show in which ordinary people get the chance to live out their fantasies. The actor had showed interest initially, but later informed the makers about his unavailability."
Last year, Ranveer was offered the Indian adaptation of 'Who's Asking' — 'India Poochega Sabse Shaana Kaun' — and on his refusal, the makers signed Shah Rukh Khan. This time round, for the adaptation of 'Tonight's The Night', the makers tried to bait him in with a lucrative deal, but he still turned it down. "They were offering him a whopping amount, but Ranveer thinks it is too early for him to venture into television."
Ranveer's spokesperson confirms the buzz and says, "Ranveer has received multiple offers for television shows but he has passed up on all of them in order to remain singularly focused on (his upcoming film) 'Bajirao Mastani'."

A bottle was thrown at Harry Styles on stage

That Harry Styles does not have the best luck on stage came to the fore again. A bottle was thrown at the One Direction singer during a recent gig, taking him aback.

The band was thanking fans for coming to the show as the singer walked down the runway in the middle of the audience when an object was thrown and hit him in the side of the head.
In a video which has surfaced on Twitter, objects can be seen going through the air, with the star recoiling and raising his hand to his face after the painful incident.
Another clip from the show reveals the object, which some fans believe was an energy drink can, hits Harry with some force. Fans are heard shouting at a girl, who is believed to have been behind the throw, although she is simply seen laughing at the incident.

After the Parents Television Council blasted her over her hosting gig at the MTV VMA, several Catholics were left in anger when she promoted her surprise album "Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz" on Instagram, reports aceshowbiz.com.
Cyrus took to the photo-sharing site on Tuesday night to post a photoshopped image of Pope Francis, holding a copy of her newly-dropped record.
"All the cool kidzzzz are listening to #mileycyrusandherdeadpetz. Check it out," she wrote in the caption.
Many found the use of the Pope's photograph to promote Cyrus's album offensive.
"Enferma mental (mentally ill)," a fan commented in Spanish, while another said: "This is disrespectful." Another fan agreed: "Yeah not okay with this, love u but love Pope Francis more."

Idris Elba 'too street' to play James Bond

Los Angeles: Anthony Horowitz, writer of the new James Bond novel "Trigger Mortis", believes Idris Elba is "probably a bit too street" to be the next actor to play the fictional British spy.

Horowitz said he thought Elba was "a bit too rough" to play the part although he asserted that it wasn't "a colour issue", reports dailymail.co.uk.

"I think he is probably a bit too street for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah,” Horowitz said.
Elba has long been touted as the fans' choice to become the first black Bond. For some, the reference to Elba as "too street" was code for "too black".
"Between The World and Me" author Ta-Nehisi Coates tweeted that Hororwitz should "Just be honest and say 'James Bond's being white is important to me' and be done with it."
Horowitz -- whom the estate of Bond creator Ian Fleming chose to take over the 007 books -- said his issue with Elba for the role has nothing to do with the actor's race.
"Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better," the writer said.
Later, Horowitz tweeted an apology amidst all the controversy.
"I admit it was a poor choice of word. I am mortified to have caused offence,” he wrote.
As for the silver screen, actor Daniel Craig will return as James Bond in Sam Mendes' “Spectre”, which is slated to release in November later this year.
