Jay Z looks happy getting back to business as shocking Beyonce split rumour emerges
Looking far from troubled, Jay Z has been seen for the first time since the shocking claims that he had a secret split from Beyonce over a Rihanna affair rumour.
The 99 Problems rapper laughed and smiled as he joined Usher, Soledad O’Brien and Harry Belafonte for the ‘Breaking the Chains’ of Social Injustice discussion.
The claims were made in an explosive new book about Beyonce’s life, Becoming Beyoncé: The Untold Story, which was written by celebrity journalist Randy Taraborrelli.
On Friday it excerpts from the book were published, claiming that Beyonce and Jay Z split following a nasty rumour about the hip hop mogul’s relationship with then 17-year-old Rihanna.
But Jay Z didn’t show any signs that the latest batch of rumours were bothering him.
Following the claims that it was a PR stunt devised by Rihanna’s team to catapult her into stardom when she released her debut, Pon de Replay, her former publicist Jonathan Hay has now claimed he orchestrated it.
“I apologised to [Beyonce],” he told the New York Daily News, “This whole thing is very awkward.
“I was blindsided by the news of Becoming Beyoncé coming out and it couldn't come at a worse time for me.
“The PR stunt that I did was out of desperation to help break Pon de Replay. It was reckless and I didn't think it was going to work. I was just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what would stick.”
