Chrissie Hynde brands pop stars as 'SEX WORKERS', days after sparking outrage with rape row

Chrissie Hynde has sparked outrage once again by branding today's pop stars as "sex workers".

It comes just days after the former Pretenders star faced an online storm after claiming women who get drunk and dress immodestly may be inviting rape .

Now she's hit out at scantily-clad singers, claiming they have created a "pornography culture" by "bumping and grinding" on stage.

The star spoke out during an interview with BBC’s Woman’s Hour yesterday, saying: "I don’t think sexualassault is a gender issue as such, I think it’s very much all around us now.

"It’s provoked by this pornography culture, it’s provoked by pop stars who call themselves feminists.

"Maybe they’re feminists on behalf of prostitutes – but they are no feminists on behalf of music, if they are selling their music by bumping and grinding and wearing their underwear in videos.

"That’s a kind of feminism – but, you know, you’re a sex worker is what you are.

"I think it’s provocative in a way that has nothing to do with music. I would say those women are responsible for a great deal of damage."

While she doesn't name anyone, it appears Chrissie is referring to scantily-clad stars such as Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and more.

It comes just two weeks after Chrissie sparked shock with her comments on rape.

The 63-year-old said she blames herself for being preyed on by a biker gang when she was 21.

She said: “However you want to look at it, this was all my doing and I take full responsibility.”

Hynde, who was forced to perform sexual acts under threat of violence by the gang in Ohio, US, said: “You can’t f**k about with people who wear ‘I Heart Rape’ and ‘On Your Knees’ badges... You can’t paint yourself into a corner and then say whose brush is this?

“You have to take responsibility. If you play with fire you get burnt.”
She told how the gang promised to take her to a party but instead took her to an empty house and attacked her.

She said she felt full responsibility – and went on to claim that women who are drunk and incapable, or dressed unsuitably, may be “enticing” rapists .

She said: “If I’m walking around in my underwear and I’m drunk? Who else’s fault can it be?"
