The super-model given 6-month prison sentence for scratching eye of paparazzo
Naomi Campbell, 45, has been convicted in a 2009 paparazzo assault case and given six months suspended prison sentence by a Sicilian court. The model’s attorney Guido Carlo Alleva said that they would appeal the ruling, but refused to say more citing the ongoing legal process, an online entertainment daily reported.
According to reports, the incident had occurred when the photographer, Gaetano Di Giovanni, was clicking her with then-boyfriend and Russian billionaire Vladimir Doronin. Campbell hit the photographer with her purse and ended up scratching his eye.
Though Campbell’s attorneys had settled the matter and the photographer had withdrawn the charges, prosecutor Francesco Massara had ordered the trial to go ahead in public interest due to the intensity of the charges.\
