American actress Connie Britton is set to star in the "Dirty John" drama series. Cable network Bravo gave "Dirty John" a two-season order in January. The scripted anthology series is based on the series of articles published by the Los Angeles Times' last fall about a charismatic con man John Meehan and the consequences of an ill-fated romance, reports variety.com.
Britton will star as Debra Newell, a single mother who fell in love with Meehan. The true crime tale was also the source of a podcast hosted by Los Angeles Times writer Christopher Goffard. Separately, Oxygen Media has ordered a document-series on the Meehan case.
The second season of Bravo's anthology will focus on a different case. Britton currently stars in the hit Fox series "9-1-1", which reunited her with series co-creator Ryan Murphy. The pair previously worked together on the first seasons of "American Horror Story" and "American Crime Story". Britton has also starred in shows like "Nashville," "SMILF," and "Friday Night Lights".

Boman Irani: Actors Need To Be Socially Responsible

Boman Irani, who has also dabbled with regional language films, especially Marathi and Telugu, feels that actors need to be responsible not only in choosing roles for films and plays, but also in endorsing brands

In a nation where Bollywood and cricket are the biggest entertainment avenues for the common man, actors carry the onus of being socially responsible, says Boman Irani, known for exhilarating performances in films like "Munna Bhai MBBS" and "3 Idiots", among others. The 58-year-old actor, who entered Hindi films after he turned 40 -- as an "outsider", from English theatre -- but successfully cast a spell of joy on Indian audiences by crafting such memorable characters as Dr. Asthana (in "Munna Bhai…") and Prof Viru Sahastrabuddhe ("3 Idiots"), believes that it is important to be happy and make people smile.
"Some people may find the films that I do senseless cinema; but I am okay with it as long as people have a good laugh and they get their money's worth," the "Jolly LLB" actor, who continues to adhere to the "theatre discipline" of rehearsal to endow credibility to the roles he essays, told IANS. Boman is now looking forward to the release of "Jhalki" -- in which he plays the Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi -- which takes a deep plunge into the socially relevant issues of child labour and exploitation.
So moved was the "Khosla Ka Ghosla" actor by the subject that he said yes to the role in a matter of 10 minutes -- unusual for someone who generally does not rush into the roles he is offered. "When it came to this particular film, I truly felt that child labour is an issue that we do not address strongly. So I agreed to do the film in a matter of 10 minutes," said the actor who has plays like "Family Ties", "Mahatma vs Gandhi" and "I Am Not Bajirao" to his credit.
"This film gave me an opportunity to talk about Satyarthi. I agreed to do it because we have to honour crusaders like him," he added. Boman Irani, who has also dabbled with regional language films, especially Marathi and Telugu, feels that actors need to be responsible not only in choosing roles for films and plays, but also in endorsing brands. "I think whether you are doing a play, movie or an ad film -- you are eventually playing a character. Even though it is for 40 seconds or a minute, the character remains on screen -- and if you are selling a product, there has to be a certain amount of commitment to it," said Boman, who appears in two ads for P Mark Mustard Oil -- both directed by his son Kayoze Boman Irani.
"When you are preparing for an ad film, it is important to know what the company stands for... When I was doing ads for P Mark Mustard Oil, I had the opportunity meet Vivek Puri, owner of Puri Oil Mills Ltd., and understand the history of the company... the pains that are taken in preparing the product, the ethos of the company," said Boman, who has a preference for home-cooked food.
Emphasising on the importance of good edible oil, he said: "I am a confirmed foodie. Off late, I have been happier eating home-cooked food simply because it brings the family together at one table. The main reason why I (prefer to) have my meals at home is because of the quality of the food. My wife's cooking is superlative," said Boman, who also believes in sharing household responsibilities equally with his spouse Zenobia Irani.
As advice to newcomers and "outsiders" like him who want to make it big in Bollywood, Boman said that they should focus on their work instead of getting into the various "camps" of the industry. "I get along with everyone very well. I don't take sides. I do not talk about anything except work. And after work, I talk about fun, life and enjoyment... nothing else," he added.

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has been accused of a photoshop fail, yet again. The 37-year-old shared on Instagram a photograph in which she looks flawless from head to toe, reports mirror.co.uk. Posing alongside her friend and make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic, Kim flaunts her curves in nothing but a high cut black swimsuit as she adopted a variety of poses.
But fans weren't convinced they were seeing the "real Kim" as they took to social media to complain she looked totally unrecognisable. "When were these pictures taken? You look 27," commented one user. "Hot. Airbrushed, but hot," added another.
"That does not entirely look like Kim," said another user. The latest Twitter storm comes days after Kim was mercilessly ripped apart by her followers after posting a glaring photoshop fail on Instagram.

Kristen Bell: Parents Can Push Your Buttons

With 'A Bad Moms Christmas' releasing in India on November 10, 2017, weve heard that fun and manic has doubled, thanks to the moms' moms. Them being an integral part of this movie, the filmmakers talked a lot with Mila, Kathryn and Kristen about casting their moms because they wanted their moms to share the same prototypes as them.
Kristen Bell enjoyed the process, "By introducing our mothers, you see why we are who we are and I think your parents can push your buttons".
Suzanne Todd, the producer, claims that they hit the casting lottery. "The nice thing for us is we had so many great actresses that wanted to be involved with A Bad Moms Christmas, as they had seen Bad Moms and loved the message. We felt like we had a wealth to pick from"

Actress Kate Winslet, who won the Hollywood Actress Award for her performance in Woody Allen's latest film "Wonder Wheel", had a kissing moment with Allison Janney on stage. The moment was prompted after Winslet said she would like to "be" Janney as well as "stroke" and "kiss (her) someday".

"I know I don't really know you but I know I just want to be you. I do, or just stroke you or something. I mean, we could always kiss, maybe? Maybe?"

Janney then headed to the stage, prompting Winslet to remark: "Ah, it's gonna happen! This is an exciting moment!" Janney, herself an honoree with the Hollywood Supporting Actress Award for her performance in "I, Tonya", gave Winslet a kiss before heading back to her seat. Singer Justin Bieber's mother to accompany him to India for Mumbai concert

Singer Justin Bieber will be accompanied by mother Patricia Mallette, with whom he has recently started mending ties after once calling her non-existent

In 2015, Justin Bieber had termed his relationship with his mother, Canadian author and film producer Patricia Mallette, as 'non existent'. He blamed their rocky relationship on his headline-making wild phase, which included an arrest. Last year, however, the 22-year-old pop star appeared to have made up with Pattie, who raised him single-handedly, with a Mother's Day wish.
Now, we hear, the Sorry hitmaker is bringing his mother to India to witness his Mumbai concert on May 10. Bieber's India jaunt is in support of his fourth album, Purpose.
"Pattie is also part of the touring entourage and the organisers (White Fox India) are curating a bespoke experience for the entire crew as soon as they set foot in India. Like him, she too is intrigued by Indian culture and traditions. There will be two different teams attending to individual requirements of the mother-son duo," says a source. Apart from making her stay comfortable, the organisers have proposed a tete-a-tete between Patricia and Twinkle Khanna, adds the source.
Pattie has authored inspirational books, one of which was a bestselling memoir titled Nowhere But Up (2012). Reportedly, her childhood was marred by sexual abuse and violence, starting as early as age three. She left home as a 16-year-old and gave birth to her superstar son a year later followed by a split with husband Jeremy Bieber a few months after that. Bieber, however, remains close to his dad.
Before Scooter Braun started managing Bieber's work, Pattie was his manager. She too dabbled in music. Later, she exposed her son to piano and guitar lessons, posting videos of her son's performances on YouTube, which eventually led him to become famous.

Well placed sources inform mid-day that White Fox India is in talks with British singer-songwriter Zayn Malik to come over as one of the special guests.
