Lady Gaga's tribute to David Bowie wins her praise

Lady Gaga won praise with her touching musical tribute to the late David Bowie at The Grammy Awards 2016.

The singer moved viewers to tears as she belted out a medley of the legendary singers greatest hits in front of a celeb filled crowd at the Staples Centre.

In the longest segment of the show, Gaga delighted fans with her spot on vocals which led people to quickly declare she was the best woman for the job and would have made the singer, who died of cancer in January of this year, very proud.

One Twitter user wrote: "@ladygaga would have made @DavidBowieReal proud methinks. #BowieTribute #GRAMMYs"Another tweeted: "Paying tribute to an icon can't be easy, @ladygaga did a great job. #Grammys2016.

"While a further fan declared: "Lady Gaga is the greatest performer of our generation. #GRAMMYs."

Speaking ahead of the visually stunning performance National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) president Neil Portnoy said: "There's some very exciting brand new technology that's never been seen on television that will be a part of the segment.

"He also revealed that Gaga was one of the first choices to pay tribute to Bowie, as he said her name "popped into my head pretty quickly" when he thought about what they could do to pay tribute to the late British star.

Thankfully, he said "she really wanted to do it and it worked out".
