Serena Williams response to her body shamers

The tennis champ, who is now in the second round of the US Open, has got her sights on being the first woman to win a calendar Grand Slam since Steffi Graf in 1988.

But while it’s been another incredible year for Serena, she has not been able to get away from racist, sexist andbody-shaming messages.

Even when she won Wimbledon, her appearance was heavily criticised by trolls, with Harry Potter author JK Rowling wading in to defend the 33-year-old.

In an interview with Good Morning America. Serena told Robin Roberts that she had learned how to love herself.

Serena said: “I've been like this my whole life, and I embrace me and I love how I look. I love that I am a full woman, and I'm strong and I'm powerful and I'm beautiful at the same time. And there's nothing wrong with that.”

The star, who is rumoured to be dating rapper Drake, added: “I just don't have time to be brought down. I have too many things to do, you know. I have Grand Slams to win. I have people to inspire. And that's what I'm here for.”
