The girls from the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls visited New York when their mentor decided to treat them to a night at the theatre, reported People magazine.
Winfrey, 61, her boyfriend Stedman Graham and good friend Gayle King joined the girls for the Bernard B Jacobs Theatre visit, where the party checked out "The Color Purple".
"Particularly this time of the year, you're giving some energy and thought to what it means to be in the world and being able to have access to opportunity, which is what has happened with my girls," Winfrey, who is one of the show's producers, said.
The media mogul's girls' school in South Africa opened in January, 2007.
